1. Introduction
In the process of studying the model’s results, showing a result table, and plotting a result chart are useful for users to analyze the problem. Akselos Modeler provides a tool – Graph Tool – to serve these purposes.
This article will provide users with more information about Graph Tool and guide you on how to use it.
The Graph Tool is supported for the Post-Processing stage.

Components | Components created by the componentization process to use with Akselos Integra |
Sideset | A surface of mesh assigned with a certain ID number |
2. Graph Tool
Why do we need to use the Graph Tool?
Graph Tool is a tool that helps users to show the results of selected nodes as a table and graph on the Table & Chart screen.
Tables and graphs are powerful ways for communicating information, especially when it comes to presenting the results of research or analysis. They offer several key benefits over simply presenting data in normal format.
Feature | Tables | Graphs |
Clarity and Conciseness | Organized data, easy to compare values | Vusual representation of trends and patterns |
Comprehension and Retention | Structured format aligns with brain processing | Engages visual processing centers for better memory |
Communication and Storytelling | Grasp key points quickly | Tell a compelling story with data |
Ultimately, the best way to present results depends on the specific data. Tables and graphs are often used in combination to provide a comprehensive and informative picture of the findings.
What are the special points of the Graph Tool?
- Akselos built the Graph Tool to support Pushover Analysis. Read more in Case Study: … to know how to simulate the Pushover Problem in Akselos Modeler.
- The tool only supports 1D beam structure.
- The Table & Chart screen is the place that supports the tool to show the results.
3. Tool Option
This section will show you more information about the options of Graph Tool.

3.1. X/Y data
This position is the place where users select data for the x and y axis of the graph.
Figure 3: The position of selecting X/Y-axis data
There are two main options:
- Data list: The left is data for x axis and the right is data for y axis. The data fields in the expanded list depend on the result fields of the solution.
Figure 4: The data fields on the expanded list
- X/Y factor: The option helps users scale up or down data on the axis. The default is 1.
3.2. Selected node location(s)
This position is the place to show node(s) that users select on the Graphic Window. The tool will get the results of these nodes and show them as a table and graph.
Figure 5: The position of the selected nodes’ panel
There are three functions in this place:
- Add node(s): To analyze the results at any node, users need to add that node from the Graphic Window to the panel via Add function. Users can add multiple nodes to the pannel and cannot add the same node twice.
Figure 6: Add button
- Delete selected node(s): To remove any selected node from the panel, users need to select this node on the panel and use Delete function. To delete multiple nodes, users need to do it one by one.

- Delete all selected nodes: Clean function helps users delete all selected nodes.

3.3. Chart Settings
There are some advanced options for customizing the graph and functions to export data.
Figure 9: Navigation – Chart Settings
In Chart Settings, there are two tabs to customize the chart and one tab to export the data:
- Configurate Members: The tab contains all selected nodes. If users want to hide any node’s results from the chart, just untick on its box.

- Adjust Canvas Settings: The tab contains options to customize the axis of the chart.

- Enable Animation: Any changes to the chart will be animated.
- Show Point Lables: The values of the points will be shown on the graph.
- Show Points: The points will be marked with small circles.
- X/Y-axis Custom Label: The name of the axis.
- X/Y-axis Logarithmic Scale: The axis will be changed to the axis in the logarithmic chart.
- X/Y-axis Maximum: Setting for maximum value of the axis.
- X/Y-axis Minimun: Setting for minimum value of the axis.
- X/Y-axis Number Format: Setting for format of number in the axis.
- X/Y-axis Number of Ticks: Setting for the amount of the numbers in the axis.
- X-axis Vertical Guidelines: Setting for the extension lines to correspond to the numbers on X-axis.
- Y-axis Horizontal Guidelines: Setting for the extension lines to correspond to the numbers on Y-axis.
- Export: the tab contains functions to export the data.

4. How to use Graph Tool?
This section will guide you on how to use Graph Tool in detail.
The solution of Pushover analysis is the input data for this tool. Users can read Pushover Analysis with 1D Beam Element to get the pushover solution.
Follow the steps below:
STEP 1: Change to Graph Tool on the right panel and change from Logs screen to Table & Chart screen.
STEP 2: Select data in X/Y data category.
STEP 3: Enter X/Y factor to salce up/down data. Users can leave the default of 1.
