1. Introduction
Stored Selections, as their name implies, are selections of entities that can be stored in the AKS file, identified by a name that can be defined by the user. Users can explore and modify Stored Selections which are located on the Model Tree.
The Stored Selections will be normally used for:
1. Use as target(s) to apply load(s) in
2. Use on some tools (Joint creation, fatigue check…)
3. Use as target(s) for solver types (hybrid components, FEA components…)
Terminologies
Model ribbon | An Akselos Modeler ribbon containing tools for model assembling and management |
Nodeset | A mesh node assigned with a certain ID number |
Shell component | A component containing only shell elements |
Sideset | A surface of mesh assigned with a certain ID number |
Solid component | A component containing only solid elements |
2. Types of Stored Selection
There are four Stored Selection types:
- Boundary Sets selections: allow storing one or multiple surfaces, which can be applied boundary conditions or loads, the surfaces can belong to one or multiple components
- Component selections: allow storing one or multiple complete components
- Element Set Selection: allow storing one or multiple mesh element that belong to one or multiple components
- Subdomains selections: allow storing one or multiple subdomains that belong to one or multiple components
When users right click on Stored Selection on Model Tree, four options appeared are represented for four Stored Selection types.

3. How to create a Stored Selection
The ways to create a stored selection is as follows:
- Locate the Stored Selections on the Structure Tree → right click the Stored Selection → select one of these types: Boundary sets/ Components/ Element Set/ Subdomains → a corresponding Stored Selection will be generated.

After creating some stored selections, users can also right-click on a stored selection to modify or implement some actions on it, including:
- Rename: users can edit the name of a stored selection. Alternatively, users can double-click on a stored selection to change its name.
- Clone: users can make a copy from a stored selection.
- Delete: users can remove a stored selection from the Stored Selections branch if it is not used any more.
- Delete all items in: this action allows users to delete all items in this stored

4. Stored object(s) in a Stored Selection
There are 3 ways to stored object(s) in a stored selection:
a. Select object(s) manually from Graphic window:
This basic method allows users to store object(s) in a Stored Selection directly, follow steps:
STEP1: Select the created Stored Selection on Model Tree
STEP2: On Graphic window, click to select object(s)

b. Create directly from Graphic window:
This method allows users to create a Stored Selection directly from selected object(s) on graphic window.
STEP1: Change the Selection Mode to one of these types: Boundary Sets/ Subdomains/ Components/ Mesh Elements → select all the desired objects on the Graphics Window → right click → select Store current selection

STEP2: The stored selection will appear on the Structure Tree after you finish the selection.

c. Use Stored Selection Editor:
Stored Selection Editor is an Akselos tool, which allows users to manage all the Stored Selection and (un)select object(s) for them.
STEP1: On the Right Panel, select Stored Selection Editor tool

STEP2: Select a Stored selection on Edit tab → tick on the object(s) on the list to set them as a part of that Stored selection

Created Stored Selections
When users click on a stored selection on the Stored Selections branch, the object(s) belonging to that stored selection will be yellow highlighted on the Graphics Window.
Users then can select non-highlighted object(s) to add it/them to the stored selection or select the highlighted object(s) to remove it/them from the stored selection.
